Karl Lagerfeld has released a short film on the early life of Chanel, “Once Upon a Time‘ via the Internet.   The short film can be seen on Chanel.com, YouTube and here.   I’ve seen the film and it’s beautifully done with a high-powered cast including Keira Knightley as Coco Chanel.  But the film a is mere glimpse into Chanel’s life and depicts her as an immediate success, selling her hats at her show in the seaside resort town of Deauville, France like hotcakes.   Comments from YouTube viewers reveals that many are unimpressed by the short film.

YouTube user Utopia752 says, “This was extremely pretty but badly written and directed. I wouldn’t change careers if I were Mr. Lagerfeld.”   There are many more similar comments.  “Mr Lagerfeld is great fashion designer, but really terrible director! I’m disappointed :(, ” says YouTube user  Love Diaz.   See the free film for yourself here and share your thoughts.   It is a beautifully packaged, but very light, homage to the iconic designer.
