Macy’s has released photos on the actual garments from the upcoming Karl Lagerfeld Impulse collection.  The collection looks very vintage inspired to me with ruching, a surplus bodice dress with classic draping in pale pink, and some very 1960’s looking shift dresses and floral dresses with rounded collars.  The dominant color in the collection is basic black accented by hot pink, soft pinks and the eggplant colors that were found in Lagerfeld’s 2004 collection for H&M. Below are a few more shorts of the pieces as worn by models. Check out the model in the middle below, channeling Hepburn’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s look. Literally shades of Givenchy.

What do you think readers? The pieces look classic to me, and I think it they fit well, could be worn for a long time as they are not trendy.  There are some leather pants in the collection, but for the most part, the clubbing look is subdued.  Most of this collection could be worn to the office, which should suit the typical Macy’s buyer, looking for affordable multi-purpose looks.
