When fashion and a good cause collide, count me in. Check out this beautiful red dress created by Season 6 Project Runway winner Irina Shabayeva from her upcoming Spring 2010 collection. It’s gorgeous! To me, it looks like a red rose opening up for spring. This dress is up for auction today to benefit the charity: water, a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. You can place a bid here via eBay. The only downside of this is that the dress is in sample size 2-4. Irinia, please do one in a size 12 🙂 Just a little hint. Not all of us struggling, aspiring fashionistas are sample size. Especially after the Christmas holidays. I still need the jaws of life to get up off my own couch. Don’t talk to me about sample sizes!

The dress is hand draped and sculpted to mirror the shape of a rose. It is made from stretch Italian crepe to give it a luxurious feel. On the right fashionista, this would be the perfect Valentine’s Dress, wouldn’t it?

To learn more about Irina, check out her spread in this month’s Marie Claire magazine. I am amazed she is still defending herself and that the ” B word” is linked with her again. I met Irina when she was here in Orange County for the premiere of her Macy’s holiday collection dress. She’s not “Mean Irina,” quite the opposite. What she is, is a focused business woman and a talented designer. Her clothes are well made and functional. This is the dress from the Marie Claire piece that I am lusting for. Talk about a great LBD. Way to go Irina! I hope a budget version of this one is on the way to Macy’s.
