The chic looks of designer Michelle Smith are some of my favorite pieces every year at NY Fashion Week.   Her upscale, but not too pricey line, Milly has been worn by working women from Jill Biden to Beyonce.  So, what can we expect to see from Milly this year on the runway?   I think it will be a mix of modern but tailored silhouettes and beautiful colors. “My Spring 2012 collection is modern and geometric in cut and print, softened by earthy materials like wood and tortoise resin. Colors are vibrant and exciting- vermillion, tangerine, jade and azure are grounded by chocolate brown and indigo,” says Michelle Smith, Designer and Creative Director, Milly.

I really like the above sketch of this rather vintage looking dress with the tailored bodice and full skirt.  It’s very Madmen meets Chanel.  Look for the collection next year at  Nordstroms and Bloomingdales, where Milly can always be found.  The annual Bloomingdales and Nordstroms sales (happening now) are a great time to shop for Milly for less.
