Oscars RX for Glamour: Physicians Formula Makeup Tips
Physicians Formula truly has the prescription for glamour. They have launched a variety of new make-up lines to capitalize of the hottest make-up trends like the “nude look” and “smokey eyes.
What I like about their new products and packaging is the helpful instructions inside the package that show you how to apply the make-up for maximum effect. I used it for the Oscar parties I was invited to this last weekend and was thrilled with the results. You don’t have to be a celebrity make-up artist to use these products for a glamorous looks. If you watched the Oscars on Sunday, the “smokey eye” look was a popular trend on the red carpet. I sat down with Celebrity Make-up Artist Joanna Schlip to ask how to achieve the look at home. Here are her easy to follow tips.
Step 1: Begin “smoking” out the eyes with a dark eyeliner—I like the NEW Physicians Formula Sexy Booster™ “Ooh La La” Sexy Eyes Trio ($12.95) because it has three different tools to help me get the intensity and definition I want. Line the inner rim on both the top and bottom of the eye with the kohl kajal (it’s waterproof so the rich pigmentation will stay put). If you want to add a winged look like Olivia Wilde, use the felt-tip marker for a bolder, cat-eye definition. Or, if you want to go a little softer, trace along the upper and lower lash line with the automatic eyeliner pencil.
Step 2: For the lids, try the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner in Smoky Nude Eyes ($10.95). Beginning with a medium color, use the brush included in the palette to apply the shade all over the lid. Next, choose a light, highlighting shade and apply this to the brow bone. Afterwards, apply a dark shadow shade along the top and bottom lash lines and blend into the crease.
Step 3: Make your eyes pop with full, luscious lashes like Penelope Cruz’s. After curling lashes with an eyelash curler, apply the NEW Physicians Formula Sexy Booster™ “Va Va Voom” Volume Mascara($9.95), which features a volume boosting brush for long, curvaceous and full lashes. Ms. Schlip recommends applying multiple coats to the top and bottom of the lashes for a more dramatic effect.
Physicians Formula make-up was founded in Los Angeles in 1937. It was created by a doctor to help his patients with sensitive skin. It’s probably the most affordable organic make-up on the market today. If you’re not familiar with the line, I highly recommend the new Nude Wear blush and eye make-up products for giving the skin a natural look. For foundation, check out the new Super CC+ Color-Correction + Care CC+ Concealer SPF 30. This rich foundation gives you great coverage and offers sun protection, all in one package.
