The Recessionista Reviews Harajuki Mini for Target

Gwen Stefani’s Japanese inspired children’s line, Harajuki Mini, for Target arrived in stores today.  I didn’t see any hoarding among shoppers at my neighborhood store.  This was no Missoni type shopping madness. Target.com is not selling any of the items, which may be a necessary precaution while their site stablizes, so the range is available for sale on in store and on eBay.  There are hundreds of items on sale on eBay, but not the thousands that were on eBay after the Missoni for Target launch.

I didn’t see the full collection, but what I did see was very unimpressive.  Some of the outfits (jumper  and the short sleeve sweater with tie top) look like my old Catholic school uniform pieces.  Maybe Sister Mary Agnes should start merchandising those old vest and ties we had to wear for Target.  The T-shirts with cartoon characters are very cute, but I’m note sure kids will clamor for  them like they do for Thomas the Train, Glee or High School Musical.  The girls dresses are very cute, but for $24.99. I didn’t think they were that special.  Bottom line, I was disappointed.  I give Harajuki Mini for Target a big Meh.   If you saw it at you local Target store, leave me a comment and tell me what you think.
