The Recessionista Reviews Ines de la Fressange 2015 UNIQLO
Designer and model, Ines de la Fressange, is back in UNIQLO stores with a new collection that personifies Parisian Chic. The collection features romantic prints, billowy dresses, outerwear, hats and classic separates designed to be layered. The collection arrived in select UNIQLO stores and online on Jan 16 . I had the pleasure of shopping the collection this week in New York City with select bloggers & media at a special preview at UNIQLO’s Soho store. There’s so much to love about this collection that it’s hard to know exactly where to begin, but the bottom line is the Ines de la Fressange for UNIQLO Spring 2015 is stylish, affordable and extremely well priced.
There’s nothing edgy or over the top about the style of Ines de la Fressange. The collection features tailored shirts and blazers, gathered skirts with beautiful prints, classic shirt-waist dresses, cashmere and silk blend sweaters, parkas and jacket cut style shirts. The collection has an easy breezy feel that makes it accessible to many types of tastes and body types. Most of the items have a loose/generous fit that make them comfortable to wear. If you like classic styles, then this collection is for you. A special highlight of the collection is the beautiful vintage-inspired prints.
Several skirts in the collection and the floral shirt-waist dress feature striking prints that look like vintage reproductions. The billowy gathered skirts fro $39.90 US actually puff a bit when you walk in them, for an almost “balloon” skirt like effect. The rayon floral shirt waist dress with gathered waist is really gorgeous and well priced at $49.00 US. The print on this dress is very romantic and reminiscent of Liberty of London at a much more economic price.
Other pieces in the collection that I tried on and loved were the V-Neck Silk Blend Sweaters, the sixties inspired hunting cap, the Blouson style jackets , the colorful scarves with tassels and the blue flannel print (center print above) shirt for $19.90.
Sizing for the collection runs in sizes S, M and L, with skirt sizes going up to US size 8. That may sound a bit restrictive, but the collection is generously sized and a size 12 may be able to wear the size 8 skirts, so you may want to give them a try before ruling them out. The belts are also generously sized. The pants are a slimmer cut, but that is the de la Fressange style.
Pricing is under $50.00 US for most collection items. The most expensive piece in the collection is the Soutien Collar Coat $99.90. Jeans and Pants are priced at $59.00 and under. The cotton/cashmere sweaters are priced at $39.90.
If you’re in New York , then you have the advantage of finding Ines de la Fressange at UNIQLO in the Soho store and other New York stores. The collection won’t be in stock at all UNIQLO stores, but there’s plenty available on the UNIQLO website.
If you’re a fan of the Ines de la Fressange at UNIQLO, then here’s some good news. There is more of the collection coming to stores and online end of January and in February, so stayed tuned for part two of the Spring 2015 collection. There will be more print skirts and dresses in cool summer fabrics like lawn, georgette and linen coming soon.
