Jacqueline Kennedy was the First Lady of Fashion when she was America’s First Lady

Today marks the 50th Anniversary of the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy.   This is such a sad day in American History.   So many American lives and dreams were forever changed with the death of the young president.  The loss of JFK was a turning point for the nation.  But the loss of Jacqueline Kennedy as First Lady was also a changing moment in American History.

On the 50th anniversary of the assassination website Reminsce.com is paying tribute to Jackie’s impeccable style when she was First Lady of the United States.  Jackie truly was a fashion icon, whether she was wearing a simple Lily Pulitzer shift dress, a pill box hat , an Oleg Cassini suit or any one of her pieces of jewelry.  If you’re feeling nostalgic today for the Camelot era, as I am,  check out the Reminisce website’s special slideshow entitled: Jackie O, the First Lady of Fashion.

Jackie’s style is still incredibly influential, just look at the dresses in the Banana Republic Madmen Collection or her QVC replica jewelry collection (a big seller on the shopping network.)  Jacqueline Kennedy was never known to be a savvy shopper or someone who did price comparisons when shopping, but it can be said that she was invested in quality pieces that she wore for years, especially her jewelry.
