Hot on the heels of their presence at New York Fashion Week, American Express is announcing a new social commerce experience that turns Twitter hashtags into purchases.   Here’s how this will work.  Twitter users will be able to achieve savings by using hashtags to buy special offers.  Although American Express offered Twitter deals before allows synced Amex card members will be able to “tweet to buy.”    If you’re a user of social media, this may bring you some good savings.  Of course, you’ll have to do the price comparison as you would before any purchase you make to ensure you are getting the best deal.

Here’s what you need to do if you are an  American Express card member to start saving:

  •     Sync an eligible American Express card at sync.americanexpress.com/twitter
  •     Note:  If you have previously synced for couponless offers, you  must resync your card for purchases
  •     Tweet a specific product #hashtag for the product you want to purchase, for example #BuyUrbanZenBracelet
  •     Confirm your purchase after receiving an @Reply from @AmexSync
