Pst, lean in, I’ve got a great deal for you! I just found out that my favorite butter, the Irish gold known as Kerrygold , butter that is, is sponsoring 10,000 complimentary downloads of wonderful cookbook.  I just downloaded my copy of this little gem, and its amazing.  The book is by Irish culinary godess Rachel Allen.  In the words of Mike Meyers on Coffee Talk, her food is like But-ah! Discuss!  If you haven’t heard of Kerrygold, maybe you have heard of their Dubliner cheese, which I also love. Of course, any cookbook by Rachel using Kerrygold, promises to be amazing.

So, here’s  how  I stumbled upon this little treat.  My Irish grandmother, May Murphy, had a favorite family cake recipe she made with Irish butter.  When I saw the movie, Julie & Julia  (based on the blog), and all the Julia Child recipes made with real butter, I got a craving for that cake. Later, I went to research the cake. In the process,  I found this website were people were exchanging different recipes and butter tips.  Of course, I had to subscribe to that ASAP.  Well, low and behold, one of the readers of that website answered one of my comments from last year, with this little note today:

I found this free eBook promotion. This is a 20-recipe edition offered by Kerrygold Butter.

Kerrygold is giving away 10,000 eCookbooks by Ireland’s cooking superstar, Rachel Allen ( Ireland’s Top TV Cooking Star) :

I went right over to the Harper Collins link and got my cookbook! Even if you are not of Irish descent, you will adore these cheap and cheerful treats.  There’s even a blue cheese and onion tart recipe in the book similar to one that Julia Child made.   The book can be downloaded as a PDF file for your Mac or PC, or for your PDA device.  Imagine, you can take the book to the store with you on your Kindle or iPad and shop for all the ingredients. Enjoy all you servantless American cooks in The Recessionista nation! 🙂
