Take a Leap: Frog’s Leap Wine on Sale at RueLaLa
In the The Rubaiyat by Omar Khayyam the poet wrote that all he needed to be happy was “A Jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread–and Thou.” To these wonderfully true and wise words, I can only add, “Woman can not live by fashion alone.” Yes, fashion uplifts me, but every now and then, I need something a bit stronger. Something like say, an exquisitely chilled Chardonnay or a berry scented Pinot Noir. Sales of wine during this recession show I am not alone. Wines priced under $20.00 are on the upswing in the downturn. So good news gentle readers, one of Napa Valley’s treasures , Frog’s Leap wine, is going on sale tomorrow at RueLaLa.
I will be front and center at my PC screen tomorrow shopping the sale when it starts at 8 am PST, 11 am EST and 10 pm CST in the US. If you live outside the US, look for Napa’s divine Frog’s Leap wine at local stores in your area. A simple Google search should tell you where you might find some of this reasonably priced nectar. Even without the RueLaLa discount, it’s still a cheap and cheerful find. Many bottles are priced at $30.00 US to $40.00 US (the Merlot Rutherford and the Sauvingnon Blanc). I will be on the look out for a pricier bottle tomorrow at a discount, namely their Rutherford Red ( a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cab Franc) which usually retails for $75.00 US. I want the Rutherford Red to become “Recessionista Red” at this sale. The Frog’s Leap Rutherford Red has been rated a “90 plus wine” indicating excellent quality. I am also a fan of their lower-priced Zinfandel. Think Boysenberry overtones and smooth flavor with a hint of pepper and you get the idea of the zin sin 🙂
Overall, I recommend Frog’s Leap as rich, complex wines. The winery is very eco-friendly and has a philosophy of organic, dry farming, which is reflected in the bottle price. If you can’t find what you’re looking for at RueLaLa, click on over to Wine.com. Tomorrow is the last day of their 1 cent shipping sale.
To quote The Rubaiyat by Omar Khayyam once again:
End in what All begins and ends in–Yes;
Think then you are To-day what Yesterday
You were–To-morrow You shall not be less. “
