Actresses Naomi Watts and Keri Russell turned out at Target’s A-list media and celebrity Altuzarra for Target launch party to kick-off New York Fashion Week.  Each actress was appropriately attired in, you guessed it, Altuzarra for Target. Naomi looked gorgeous in the line’s red dress. Ms. Russell wore the Altuzarra for Target  trench coat, no mean feat in the city’s oppressive heat and humidity.

As always, Target does a great job marketing these collections and getting celebrities to step out on the red carpet to promote the garments.  We’ll have to see how the clothes (priced at under $100.00)  look and fit when they arrive in Target stores and online at Net-a-Porter on Sept. 14.

As good as the collection looks on the model thin Ms. Watts and Ms Russell, it also looks good on two women who are not models.  Eve Cardona and Eunice Liriano of the organization Dress for Success were invited by Target and Altuzzara to model some of the looks.   They look pretty good in the clothes (see photo above), showing off the concept of runway to real-world.  Target reaching out to Dress for Success to have “real-women” try on the clothes and be photographed in them is a brilliant move  that seems designed to offset the out cry about the collection not being plus-sized.

Target’s new “Pure Energy ” clothing line is plus-sized but the new Altuzarra for Target collection will not be plus-sized.
