H&M Opens US Online Shopping with Home & Plus Size Fashions
Today, August 1, H&M has officially launched its “Shop Online” in the United States. Other countries have been able to shop online at H&M for some time, and now the United States finally can do the same. The new H&M shop online offers ladies, men’s, teens, plus-size and children’s are now available for online purchase, as well as exclusive “online-only” items. The online store claims to offer items starting as low as $4.95, rivaling Missguided’s recent “Sweet Deal” launch. There’ s also an H&M music section of the site, similar to Burberry & Topshop’s efforts to integrate fashion and hits. The store also offers H&M + size with offering for women looking for sizes 14 to 24.
HM.com offers options for ladies buying larger sizes online at H&M. According to the Huffington Post, ” women who buy plus-sizes tend to have trouble finding clothing in stores, forcing them to turn online.” H&M has long been know for offering sizes that run smaller than other American brands. Their sizing has often been more European sized (smaller than US) or even Juniors sized. For H&M lovers who haven’t been able to shop at a brick and mortar store, the H&M ecommerce site will be welcome cheap and cheerful shopping. I predict H&M stores will still be the best way to actually access the quality of H&M’s merchandise. After all, when prices are low you really need to look at the pieces to access their quality. But H&M online will provide a great way for consumers to know what is in at H&M and perhaps get sizes not available in store. It may also provide a way for more consumers to have access to their Red Carpet collections and Conscious Collections which are not in every store, and frequently sell out. What do you think readers? Are you ready to cruise HM.com? I wonder if we’ll be able to buy Isabel Marant for H&M online? How good would that be?
