Dreaming of sizzling summer dresses inspired by a summer on the Amalfi coast? Then your dreams are about to come true as Italian designer Alberta Ferretti’s capsule collection is about to come to Macy’s. The capsule collection is set to launch on April 17. The preview pictures with user ratings on the most wanted pieces is already live on the Macy’s Impulse site.  In my opinion, Macy’s has done a good job with these collections. but they haven’t receive the marketplace hype of the H&M designer collaborations or the Target collections. Perhaps because there are not so scarce.  Macy’s seems to stock enough of their collections both in-store and line so there’s no eBay style hoarding and reselling.  The collection is priced  from $49 to $119, so it’s much more affordable than the designer’s upscale line. I own several pieces of Alberta Ferretti , many purchased from sale site Editor’s Closet. Even on sale, the pieces have been several hundred dollars.  The Macy’s collection looks very similar to her upscale line with the designer’s signature touches of draping and feminine tailoring. I’m particularly impressed with the fuchsia dress (see image below) with the lush draping, priced at $69.00.

So far, Macy’s website visitors are most impressed with the maxi dresses from the collection, especially the floral printed maxi dress (pictured at the top of this post.) I’m excited for this collection, and hope that it is not strictly junior sized as some previous Macy’s Impulse collections have been.  It’s great to see a designer like Alberta Ferretti finally doing a lower priced collection. What do you think readers? Will you be shopping this one? For the price, and the overall look, I’m much more impressed by these pieces that anything that I have seen from the Macy’s Fashion Star line.
