The Edith Head Banner on Google Search Today

If you’ve search Google today, you might have noticed the fashion sketches and the cartoon of Hollywood Costume Designer Edith Head on Google.com.  Edith Head was a diminutive Hollywood icon who designed costumes for Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Kim Novak, Bette Davis , Ingrid Bergman and many others.  She worked at Paramount Studios and later Universal Studios.    Edith was also instrumental in bringing fashion to women who couldn’t afford high-priced couture via her line of Vogue Edith Head patterns and her fashion books.

Happy Birthday Edith Head (via Susan Claussen)

Happy Birthday Edith!  In her lifetime, Edith offered these words about dressing well without having spending lots of money. “Many women have asked me if it is possible to have a well-built wardrobe on a limited budget. ‘Money,’ I tell them, ‘is no guarantee of taste, and an overstuffed wardrobe is often as bare as a skeleton when it comes to wearable apparel” said Edith Head .  It’s a shame Edith didn’t live to see the world of social media and Instagram.  What a sensational Instagram account she could’ve had showcasing all her designs!
