There hasn’t been nearly as much hype around the Doo.Ri collection coming to Macy’s on Feb. 15th as there was around the Jason Wu collection coming to Target on Feb. 5th, which is a shame.  For me, the Doo.Ri Collection is much more “buzz-worthy. ” Although the individual pieces are more expensive, about twice as much, as what Target sold the Jason Wu stuff for, they look much higher-end and more durable.  The Doo.Ri collection is sophisticated and chic, featuring stylish dress, coats and tops in bold colors and prints.  Macy’s has already posted preview pictures on their website, allowing consumers to take a look at the collection and pick their favorites. I think this is a great way to use the web to engage with consumers.  Based on the votes, the favorite piece in the collection is the Sleeveless Scoop Neck Pleated A Line Belted Maxi Dress, pictured below on the far right, which will retail for $79.00.

Doo.Ri will show her Fall 2012 collection this Friday at New York Fashion Week. It will be interesting to see if the collection resembles any of her Macy’s Impulse pieces.  The 38 year old designer has perhaps been best known for dressing First Lady Michelle Obama, but the Macy’s collection offers her the opportunity to bring her designs to a much wider audience.  Look for Doo-Ri for Macy’s Impulse at 225 stores and online at on Feb. 15, 2012.

I’m personally excited for this collection, it’s very chic and the designs are tailored to flatter the average woman, not just size 2 models. From the cut of the designs, it looks like you can have a few curves and wear these garments.  Macy’s does a good job with these collections, they make enough to ensure that there won’t be fighting in store over a few pieces on the racks.  So far, their website hasn’t crashed either.  What do you think readers? Any pieces in this 34 pieces collection that you have your eye on?
