The Recessionista Reviews Calypso St. Barth for Target
Upscale resort wear maker Calypso St. Barth low priced line arrived at Target stores today, and I had to stop in to give it the once over. With Mother’s Day coming up, not to mention Summer vacations, now is a good time to look at colorful tops and bring printed dresses. For the price point Calypso St. Barth for Target does not disappoint. The collection reminded me of the last Target collection I feel in love with , the Liberty of London for Target collection. Like Liberty for Target, Calypso offers women’s clothes, sleepwear, housewares, plus sizes, girls clothing, toddler clothing and swimwear. There’s quite a selection and a lot to like. The women’s collection is Misses sized, not Juniors sized, so more shoppers will be able to enjoy the pieces. My favorites were the embellished turquoise dress, the navy blue embroidered ruffled top dress (above) and the sequined tunic in red.
Many of the tunic tops in the collection are actually silk, and those with medallion print with the crochet-bib bodice are very feminine & comfortable ( see above). The collection features jewelry, which I didn’t think was that terrific for the price. I was more impressed with the tote bags and hats which were pretty and very functional for summer use at the pool or beach. I bought one of the children’s dresses for my niece—they are just adorable. If you have a little girl, you will love this collection! Especially the girl’s swimsuits. I found them more attractive than the women’s swim collection.

I didn’t get to see any of the housewares, but from the pictures on Target.com, I didn’t see anything I was in love with. I do like the Mother of Pearl bobbypins that I saw on Target.com, but I think the clothes are the mainstay of Calypso St. Barth for Target. Overall, the collection is a pleasant surprise, much better made and better looking than the recent “Best of Go” dress collection that preceded it (and which is now on clearance.) I think a lot of this collection will sell out in this week before Mother’s Day. So, if you’re looking for resort wear at a great price , you’ll want to check out Calypso St. Barth for Target—quick.
