Countdown to Target Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection
The eagerly awaited Target Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection is due in both stores this Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012. If the crowds at the recent New York Pop-up store are any indication, this collection is going to sell-out. Crowds turned out for the eagerly awaited goods from 50 high-end designers who are regulars at Neiman Marcus stores, but not at Target. The list of fashion designers in the collaboration reads like a who’s who of American Fashion. Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera, Rag & Bone, Brian Atwood, Alice + Olivia, Proenza Schouler, Tracy Reese, Diane Von Furstenburg, Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Tory Burch, Robert Rodriguez and Marchesa are just a few of the big names on the designer rooster.
Hoarding and reselling of fashion collections from H&M and Target (Missoni) has been a problem for limited edition designer collections sold at big box retail prices. At the New York pop-up shop this week shoppers were limited to buying 5 items each from the collection. So far, under 100 items from the pop-up store have shown up on eBay. But that’s before the mass-market release in stores across the US and Canada. According to Bloomberg BusinessWeek,”The collection is expected to be in high demand; some items could sell out anywhere in just a couple days, executives said. This time around, however, shoppers will be allowed to buy only a limited number of each item.” According to Neiman Marcus, per their website, all Neiman Marcus stores will open early at 8 am to launch the collection. According to Neiman Marcus “shoppers will not be limited on the total number of items they can buy in store, but purchase quantities will be limited to 5 of any single item. ” That seems more than reasonable to me.
Target stores will open Saturday at 8 am, but the real question for many shoppers is what time will the items be available at Target.com? Target says via their Target Style Facebook page only that the collection will be available in the “early morning” hours of Dec. 1. That could be anywhere from 1 am EST to 6 am EST, so the timing is rather vague. Hopefully, Target has added extra capacity to their website so it can withstand the rush of shoppers. Who can forget when Target.com crashed under the weight of Missoni shoppers? In my opinion, Target.com has never been the same.
What’s on your wish list readers? Will you be getting up early on Saturday to shop via the web or to go in-store? I will be doing a bit of both. I want to see the quality of this collection in person, but I may try to nab a few things online too. The Recessionista‘s wish list include the Oscar de la Renta purse , the Prabal Gurung cape, Robert Rodriguez tops and the Tracy Reese sparkling top.
