American Apparel Headed Towards Bankruptcy & Offering Deep Discounts

The Los Angeles Times reports that fashion retailer American Apparel, made in Downtown Los Angeles, is heading towards bankruptcy and an auction.   Around the US and the UK, the brand is closing stores. Meanwhile, their website is offering a very tempting 40% off sale on everything.   I’ve always liked American Apparel, I just haven’t shopped there in a while because I felt that their prices were too high for the quality of the goods offered and honestly, they’ve run some rather tasteless adverts in the last few years that have been off putting to say the least. Even more tasteless than their adverts (with crotch shots and the slogan “now open”) was their ill timed Hurricane Sandy sale.
