Affordable skincare: Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector for All Skin Tones

In February, L’Oreal introduced their new Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector.  I was sent me some of the product for review.  The product is designed for women looking for help to correct  the signs of aging. Sadly, as we age skin loses some of its muscle tone and elasticity.  Anti-aging is probably the current holy grail of the beauty industry.   According to recent studies published by the Huffington Post and the Daily Mail,  mature women and women in their 30’s are reported to be spending more on skincare than ever before.  Enter Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector priced at $16.99.  A price tag of under $20.00 is considerably lower than most anti-aging creams. But does the product deliver? I’ve used it as a combination foundation, sunscreen and moisturizer with good results.

Now, you may ask, how can one product do so many things?  To my surprise, I have been wearing the Garnier Ultra-Lift cream  as a foundation during the daytime when I tend to go easy on the make-up.   The product comes out of the tube white but quickly transforms to a tinted color on the skin when you apply it. Because I’m fair, the product’s peachy tint works as a good light concealer for me.  The product is meant to be worn during the day underneath a foundation but for me but I like to go easy on the make-up when I can, so I find it a good light coverall.  According to Garnier, the cream has an” auto-adjusting texture transforms on contact with skin for immediate correction and brightening. ”  It’s this color adjustment capability of the cream that makes it a good light foundation.  If you buy Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector be prepared for the cream to change color after application.  This is not a translucent cream.

It also works as a sunscreen providing 20 SPF protection, which I appreciate living in California. The product gives the skin a light “polished look.” Over the last 2 weeks the Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector cream has helped to fade a few little red spots I had on my face (which some natural skincare products did not work on as effectively.)

As a moisturizer, the Garnier Ultra-Lift packs a powerful punch because of its key ingredient: Pro-Retinol.  Pro-Retinol is naturally derived from Vitamin A.  L’Oreal, the maker of Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector cream , has been a pioneer in developing Pro-Retinol to deliver Vitamin A to the skin. To me, Retinol and  it’s stronger derivative Retin-A are like skin magic.

As a teenager, I used Retin-A to get ride of acne and blemishes.  As an adult,  Retinol and Pro-Retinal have been very effective for me, and other women, in reducing fine lines, wrinkles and even restoring a bit of firmness to the skin.  Pro-Retinol is designed to boost natural skin cell renewal.  In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with a product that contains sunscreen and Pro-Retinol.   Both ingredients protect the skin and help to promote youthful looking skin. In a study at the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) involving retinol lotions similar to Pro Retinol researchers  noted that the” natural aging processes that affect the skin are also reduced by use of retinol lotion. This information significantly extends the conditions for which Pro-Retinol is suited.”   Another benefit of Pro-Retinol is that it boosts the production of collagen, an ingredient that your skin naturally produces. By boosting collagen production, your skin stays plumper and retains moisture better.

Bottom line: the Pro-Retinol in Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector is the reason to buy and use this product. It’s an ingredient with proven results.   More expensive creams, with ingredients as diverse and exotic as brown algae and and enzymes from salmon eggs, have not been proven as effective as products with Pro-Retinol.

Is there anything about Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector that I don’t like? Well, yes. I’m not crazy about the fragrance.  Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector has the  same fragrance that is in all the Garnier skin products, so you may be familiar with it.  Personally, I would like the product better if it was unscented.

Look for Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector at CVS, Walmart, Target and Ulta. Prices range from $14.97 at Walmart to 16.99 at Walgreens.  If you try it, leave a comment and let me know.  At any price, you can’t beat the results.  But for an anti-aging cream under $20.00, you get both quality skincare and affordability.
