The Today Show’s Bobbie Thomas ex tolls the virtues of Dove’s new deodorant products at The Grove Los Angeles

The armpit.  We don’t want to talk about it.  Hence the phrase “it’s the pits.” The armpit is an often ignored part of our beauty routine or any expert’s laundry list of beauty tips.  Dove is working with Today Show style expert Bobbie Thomas to change all that by reminding women to care for their underarm skin like they would any other body part. Beauty and style expert Bobbie Thomas  was here in Los Angeles last week for a pre-Valentines Day special event at The Grove mall to talk about New Dove Advanced Care Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant with NutriumMoisture (warning don’t try to say that name 3 times fast!) Dove was at The Grove mall with an onsite spa offering women “PitiCure” treatments to exfoliate and moisturize those often neglected armpits.  I had the chance to talk to Bobbie Thomas at the event to find out why caring for under arm skin is important.

So what’s the “Piticure” all about? Basically it’s exfoliating and moisturizing your underarms just like you do your face.  ” It’s just as important as your pedicure,” says Bobbi Thomas.  When spring comes, you want to be able to wear sleeveless dresses and tops, and of course look your best. ” “This is the time to pregame,” advises Ms. Thomas.” It’s TLC for your underarms.”

Originally skeptical of this concept, I tried the new Dove products.  There are 11 scents in Dove’s Advanced Care Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant.  The scents are very well done, light and feminine.  I’m not here to sell Dove and I’m not paid by them.  I like the idea of the  NutriumMoisture oil in the deodorant because it makes sense and it feels good on the skin.  NutriumMoisture is  a Dove proprietary ingredient that  contains sunflower seed oil, and stearic acid.  All good stuff. The formula is designed to not only minimize odor and wetness but to also help protect and repair skin itself from shaving damage.

The many flavors of Dove Advanced Care.

Did you know that when you shave, you are removing more skin than hair? That’s why it makes sense to put some moisture back in and repair the damage shaving does. It also makes sense to exfoliate to remove dead skin and build-up.

I think Dove is onto something here.  The social media tagline is cheesy but also catchy: Dear Armpit.  Follow the hashtag #DearArmpit and be prepared to laugh at the cute comments.   As for the product, the scents are great and the price is right.  The product retails for $4.99 to 5.99 and if you click here you can get a coupon to save $1.00. I like the Nourished Beauty scent.  Other scents are Caring Coconut,  Skin Renew,  Cool Essentials ( cucumber), Pink Rosa and more.  I didn’t get to try them all, but if you have the chance, test drive them at your local drugstore.
