Kardashians Kan’t Save Sears, K-dashed Khristmas sales

Early this year, I reported that American retailer stalwart Sears was in deep trouble. They were on the list of brands not predicted to survive 2011.  Well, Sears is still in business but according to reliable source CNN Money, “Sears Holdings reported a sharp drop in holiday sales compared to a year ago, and said the results will force it to close 100 to 120 Sears and Kmart stores.”  Despite reselling UK brand FCUK, LA’s trendy discount fashion line Forever21and more recently the Krazy Kardashian Kollection, Sears revenues didn’t move upward. I never thought the the 80’s inspired Kardashian disco collection would deliver Sears from disappointing profits. Apparently even Black Friday sales of the Kollection were very low according to MSN Money.  I don’t wish Sears any ill will, but seriously, shame on them for thinking that a cheap celebrity labeled line made in China full of items that screamed copyright infringement could fool shoppers.  With the Kardashian Bebe collection already long gone, can the Sears Kardashian Kollection be far behind?   Although it lasted longer than 72 days, I don’t think the Kardashian Kollection will be on Sears shelves too much longer.   Despite a heavy advertising campaign, the Kollection is on sale, and I expect it to move to the clearance racks soon.

I’m glad to see American consumers passing on this Krap.   Seriously.   Look to Loehmann’s, TJ Maxx, the online shopping clubs, and the after Christmas sales at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks, and Macy’s to provide better made fashions, and better quality for price.
