Kohl’s has everything you need to get ready for warm weather and the beach.

The weather is warming up around the US after a particularly harsh winter. Finally, summer is on the way and it’s time to get ready for the warm weather with some new styles.  I just received some samples of the new items in at Kohl’s to help you stay fashionably cool.   I  took off for the beach had  to test drive some of the items and pick-up a few more for evenings out.   Here’s what’s on my summer style checklist from Kohl’s.  Read on to learn more and enter a giveaway for a chance to win a gift card to shop at Kohl’s.  I’m giving away two $50.00 gift certificates for two lucky readers to go shopping.

Some of my favorite Kohl’s Summer Style picks.

Here are a few of my fabuless Kohl’s fashion finds for summer style:

Mudd Convertible Maxi Dress – Juniors price $27.99:  This garment can be worn as a dress (tube top) or a skirt.  I’ve worn it several times both ways and it’s super comfortable.  I got this in the pink/raspberry color (see picture above) and it really looks terrific on.  It’s easy to just throw this one and wear it out to run errands or over a swimsuit at the beach.  I’ve also worn it with a Simply Vera Wang Top for going out.  This one is much more versatile than you might think from the pictures on the Kohl’s website.

Mudd Slingback Sandals, on sale from $19.99. Theses are super soft and they have some stretch in them, which is perfect if your feet swell sometimes.  The footbed even has some padding for extra cushioning.  I have these in pink, which coordinates well with the Mudd Convertible Maxi Dress.

Simply Vera Grey Knit Top:  This soft knit top is a knit sweater on the front and a solid polyester faux silk on the back.  It’s not online yet, but look for it when it arrives in store. The pearl grey color goes well with the raspberry convertible Mudd Maxi Dress if you wish to wear it as a skirt.

Jennifer Lopez Black Jumpsuit price $52.00: I bought this at my local Kohl’s before Kohl’s sent it to me as a sample. It’s so comfortable with a high waist, draping at the bust and cross over straps in the back.  The straps have gold metal accents on the back for a bit of bling.  The fabric feels like a soft jersey,  Unlike some jumpsuits, this one is easy to slip on and off. You can wear it with or without a belt and it still looks great.

Simply Vera Vera Wang Opal Cat’s-Eye Oval Sunglasses price $19.99:  These sunglasses are a good looking update on a classic vintage style.  These are very lightly tinted, although the label says they have UV protection.

LORAC Back to Bronze Collection Set price $36.00.  This set of cosmetics is designed to give you a bit of summer color via pink lipstick, pink lip glosses, bronzer and a mascara with a nicely curved applicator.   The lipstick even tastes good and the whole set comes in a nice plastic zip case for easy carrying in beach bag or your purse.   The pink shades remind of the 60’s “frosted” pink lipstick craze.

David & Young Color Brim Straw Fedora price $32.00.   This is an update on  a vintage classic , the fedora.  It’s lightweight and provides a bit of sun protection.   Kohl’s Apt 9 line also has wide brimmed, floppy straw hats for serious sun protection. I wear one of these at the beach or when sitting in strong sunlight.

Finally, there’s a good selection of canvas tote bags and beach towels at discounted prices.  The Peter Som for Kohl’s collection is still in stock offering plenty of great summer maxi dresses, tops and rompers.  Of course, not everything’s great at Kohl’s (not everything can be at a large department store) , so pick and choose carefully and read the online reviews to give you an idea on the quality of the items.

Those are my Kohl’s picks, now I want you to tell me yours to enter to win a chance to win one of the two $50.00 Kohl’s gift cards that I’m giving away.  To enter, just leave a comment on the blog about your Kohl’s summer style pick, and tell me you left a comment using the giveaway widget below.  Then you can get additional entries for following The Recessionista’s social media communities.  That’s it.   This giveaway is open for two weeks until May 25, 2014.
