L’Oréal Paris collaborates with Isabel Marant for cosmetics collection

Hot on the heels of their popular lipstick collection with Balmain, L’Oréal Paris has announced they are collaborating with fashion designer Isabel Marant for a new beauty collection.  Our spies tell us that the new collection will include lipstick, blush and perhaps mascara.

In an exclusive interview with WWD, Ms. Marant revealed that this will be a very minimalist collection, limited to make-up essentials–basically what a woman carries in her handbag. ” The few necessary products that one always has in her bag and can be used in a very nomadic way,” is how Ms. Marant described the collection to WWD. “I think that corresponds more to the way of life of the Isabel Marant girl.” Indeed, Ms. Marant’s fashions have always been about casual chic and simplicity so it makes sense that the makeup collection will follow suit.

L’Oreal posted the news on their Instagram channel and asked visitors to comment on what they would like to see in the collection. “Nude? Bold? Mat? Tell us! @isabelmarant #secretproject “ Some Instagram users have asked for everything from “cherry red” to black, so it will be interesting to see what the final color palette is!

With many fashion designers struggling to make a profit in the luxury fashion space, Ms. Marant is making a savvy business move by diversifying into beauty.  It’s far easier to afford a lipstick than to buy an Isabel Marant garment.   The L’Oreal x Isabel Marant collection is due to launch in September 2018.  The collection will launch on the runway at Isabel Marant’s Spring/Summer 2019 show,  September 27 in Paris.  After that debut, look for the beauty collection at L’Oreal outlets and at Isabel Marant stores and online.
