Mo’nique Brings Back the Champagne Dress at the Independent Spirit Awards

Pictured: Independent Spirit Awards “Best Supporting Actress” winner Monique in a Champagne Tadashi at the Indie Spirit Awards last night.  Her arm candy is Sidney Hicks.  This is from last night’s Indie awards.

Mo’nique looked stunning last night at the Indie awards in a rather unconventional red carpet dress choice.  The more conventional red carpet choice for a cocktail dress is always the little black dress. Mo’nique wore a gorgeous champagne colored Tadashi Shoji cocktail dress.  Here’s a picture of this dress from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

I love Mo’nique choice. The dress is so beautifully made.  The style reminds us that an elegant champagne cocktail dress is a good closet staple for an evening event.  Check out this chic n’ cheap champagne dress choice from J. Crew on a sale for $69.99 US (reduced from $195.00.)

Pictured: A simple version of a champagne cocktail dress from J. Crew. This one is classically elegant.  I could see it on Mrs. O with a J. Crew cardigan.

The whole Mo’niqueIndie Spirit red carpet  look is accessible to fashionistas at home.  Just a simple updo, subdued makeup and an elegant champagne dress. I love the look!  I can’t wait to see what she wears tomorrow on the red carpet at the Oscars.
