By  |

Poshmark, a mobile shopping app that has become a destination for millennials is offering two major holiday shopping features.  They’ve also shared their data-driven insights with The Recessionista about this season’s top retail trends. Poshmark, a social commerce marketplace for fashion where anyone can buy, sell and share their personal style, is announcing new holiday features to help  shoppers find new, in-season merchandise, perfect for gifting. The company is also revealing exclusive insights into what women really want this holiday season, based on millions of social data points that are received every day in the app.

Poshmark Becomes a One Stop Shop for Holiday Fashion Gifts

Poshmark is introducing “Holiday Boutiques”, a new curated section of the app, showcasing over two thousand Poshmark Seller Stylists who stock new, in-season merchandise and ship items within two days. The goal is to compete with the delivery speed of the biggest e-commerce retailers. The Poshmark marketplace will also be introducing a dynamic “Holiday Gifts” section featuring 10 exclusive holiday gift guides for everyone from the “Fitness Fanatic” to the “Beauty Junkie” to the “Guy in Your Life.” These targeted gift cards will allow shoppers to easily discover hundreds of thousands of items for everyone on their list, without ever leaving the app.

“Average time spent on Poshmark is anywhere between 20-25 minutes per day and we’ve found that people who love to shop on Poshmark would prefer to do all their shopping on the app,” said Manish Chandra, founder and CEO of Poshmark. “This holiday season, we’re excited to offer our community of millions an easy way to access all the new retail inventory that Seller Stylists are stocking in their boutiques, facilitating even better discovery of over 25 million items from five thousand brands.”

What Women Really Want This Holiday Season

Poshmark has compiled the top  items women really want this holiday season according to  their  social commerce data. Over the last 45 days, the following trends showed up in the top 100 searches (there are over five million searches daily), providing insights into some of the biggest mobile shopping trends and in-demand gift items that fashion girls across America are coveting right now.

  • Booties. It’s no secret that boots are a favorite winter staple, and this year Poshmark unveiled that ankle boots and booties are the most in-demand boots of the season, followed by over-the-knee boots, peep toe boots and Uggs, which are making a bold comeback after being spotted on the likes of it girl supermodels-off-duty, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner.

  • Fashion favorites. When it comes to winter street style, leather jackets, bodysuits, oversized sweaters, overalls and bralettes are the top searched sartorial must-haves on every fashion girl’s wish list this season.

  • Workout Gear. With the New Year on the horizon, “athleisure” is in high demand this time of year. Women across the U.S. are lusting for stylish sneakers – specifically Nike Rosche, Adidas Superstar and Adidas Stan Smith – along with the go-to athletic gear favorite, Lululemon.

  • Beauty Products. Brand new makeup products are consistent top sellers on Poshmark, so it’s no surprise that the millennial-adored beauty products such as the Kylie Lip Kit and Urban Decay Naked Palette are holding strong as the most in-demand stocking stuffers this year.

  • Accessories. The ‘90s came back with a bang this year, and chokers continue to be all the rage amongst millennial shoppers. Yet the luxury classics never lose their shine – women everywhere are also lusting after the Louis Vuitton Neverfull.

Poshmark’s Focus on Next Generation Retailers Empowers Entrepreneurs

Poshmark has over two million Seller Stylists on the platform who not only merchandise and sell their own items but also curate over four million items from across the marketplace per day, leading to better discovery for buyers and more sales for sellers. As consumers continue to stray away from department stores, the rise of Seller Stylists on Poshmark signify a shift towards a new discovery model for retail, one that recreates a personal connection that was lost in the move to e-commerce and supports entrepreneurs in local communities across America.

“Poshmark has completely revolutionized the way I shop and sell,” said Elaine K. Ratner, a 27-year-old Poshmark Seller Stylist in San Diego who makes six-figures per year as a result of her thriving boutique on the app. “Because of Poshmark, I’ve been empowered to launch my own boutique which I run full-time. The holiday season is my biggest selling moment of the year, and I work hard to stay competitive with the retail market, bringing my dedicated customers a personalized shopping experience similar to that of a physical boutique, something that they won’t find when shopping online.”

Poshmark’s holiday features are now available in the app and the marketplace has created an exclusive holiday webpage which launches on Thanksgiving.
