The eBay Richard Chai Tote matches a blue and white print. from his Spring 2014 collection

Here at The Recessionista it’s no secret that we love the free. When we arrived at Lincoln Center for New York Fashion Week Spring 2014, we went to the eBay exhibit in the lobby, downloaded the “eBay Now” app at the lounge and received the tote pictured above (featuring a print from the designer’s SS14 Collection) as a gift! How good is that? If you’re at Lincoln Center this week, be sure to stop by to get your tote while supplies last. If you’re not at Fashion Week this week, you can still get a tote by shopping on the new eBay Now service. eBay Now is eBay’s new online service that lets you shop from stores in your local area, then have your purchases delivered to your home (or other location you specify) by eBay.  Read on to learn more and find out how to get your Richard Chai tote.

A dynamic close up of the Richard Chai Tote offered by eBay N  Early bird eBay Now shoppers , the first 200 customers  to be exact, who make a purchase with eBay Now in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens will receive a complimentary tote.  My spies tell me there is still time to check this out & get the tote if you live in Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens.

If you’re not a native New Yorker, good news, you can still score a complimentary fashionable Richard Chai Tote. Starting in October, you can receive a tote if you are one of the first two hundred customers to shop at eBay Now online or from your mobile phone.

Why is shopping locally online so desirable? According to David Shing of AOL, speaking at iMedia Summit, “80% of shoppers like to shop within a 8 mile radius of their home.”   That’s makes the eBay Now service very attractive to shoppers who want to patronize stores in their area, but get goods delivered to their homes.

eBay Now is currently available online  on iPhone and Android as an app and via mobile and desktop from the web. The service is currently available in San Francisco, Bay Area Peninsula, San Jose, and New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens)Watch this space–we’ll report back when more locations are added.
