Mark Hill’s products on the shelves at Walgreens

If you haven’t heard of Britain’s celebrity hair stylist  Mark Hill, you’re going to want to make his acquittance.   His fabulous hair care products from Boots are now available in the US at Walgreens and Duane Reade.  But are they any good?  Yes, they are.   The products are both reasonably priced and effective, which is a rare combination.  I had the pleasure of meeting Mark Hill at the BlogHer 2013 conference in July and getting a shampoo and stylish blow out from him.  Honestly, my hair has rarely looked better. If Mark Hill was not based across the pond in the UK, I’d be camped out at his salon regularly for hair care.

The Recessionista meets Mark Hill for an amazing hair style.

When I met Mark at BlogHer I was trying to recovering from an awful  hair style inflicted upon me by a leading Beverly Hills salon (who shall remain nameless.)  The haircut and style I received from this Cannon Drive salon was a painful reminder that big and expensive is not always better.   Enter Mark Hill.  This man is a master.  He gave my curly hair a gentle shampoo with his “Big It Up” Volumizing shampoo for fine hair.  For conditioner he used his “Shine on Color” conditioner.  He also gave me a little dab of his straightening cream called “Straight Talk.”  As you can see from the look above, Mark turned my hair around completely.  His products tamed my wavy hair and made the layered hair cut I had received at the Beverly Hills salon look manageable and full of definition.  When Mark styled it, I could see it really wasn’t a bad cut, it had just been styled horribly for my hair type. The “Straight Talk” product he used helped the hair lay flat and show off the precision cut.

If you’re looking for an affordable range of hair care products that you can use at home, then do check out Mark Hill from Boots at Walgreens.  You’ll find everything from products infused with Moroccan Argan Oil, to  volumizing products (the Big Up brand) to rescue and repair products for damaged or frizzy hair.

My friends keep asking me, when are you going to go back to that guy, Mark Hill, your hair looked so good.  Well, I hope to visit Mark Hill’s salon in the UK someday and get another styling from him.  Next time I head over  to the UK for London Fashion Week, I’ll have to take the train up to his salon in Yorkshire.   Mark  has an infectious smile and emanates positive energy. It’s really a pleasure to hang out with him.  The customer really gets more than hair styling from him because he makes you feel gorgeous (read other reviews of ladies who have gone to Mark Hill and they all say the same thing!)   Mark takes a consultative approach to his clients, but is able to access their hair care needs and produce results.  At BlogHer ’13 in Chicago,  I watched him style several ladies, all with great results.   Mark told me he spent 15 years developing his hair care line and that care shows in the results.   In the US, look for the products at Walgreens or Duane Reade.  For my UK  readers, look for the products at Boots, Mannings and Alshaya or Mark’s website.
