Coming Up: Jason Wu for Target in February

Hot on the heels of the Missoni for Target debacle, Target has announced that Jason Wu will be their next designer collaboration. Wu told Women’s Wear Daily, “The exciting thing about this limited edition collection of affordable womens wear and accessories is that it allows me to reach a wider audience and bring my designs to people who may not have been able to purchase them before.”  The collection will include handbags as well as apparel.

True, and maybe Wu patron Michelle Obama will sneak out of the White House again for another Target run, since Mr. Wu designed her beautiful white inaugural gown in 2009.  Young Mr. Wu doesn’t have the large following that the House of Missoni had, and that is a good thing for Target.  They can’t afford another Internet stampede, which would leave the bulls eye with a serious black eye to say the least.

Meanwhile, I’m still seeing Missoni for Target returns trickling into the stores. My local store had quite a few pieces in stock yesterday, including the rain boots that someone actually tried to sell on eBay for 31k!
