David Beckham launches bodywear for H&M

By  |

When David Beckham drops trou, every head turns. Previously, he dropped trou for Armani, selling his boxers and briefs.  This year, he’s lending his image to a line of body wear to be sold by H&M.  Why should Armani monopolize the soccer superstar? Becks will have his men’s body wear in H&M stores on Feb. 2nd at 1,800 H&M stores worldwide, just in time for Valentine’s Day.   This body wear line is serious business.  David and his team worked long and hard on this, no pun intended. According to H&M Public Relations, this line is  “the result of eighteen months of research and development, the collection aims to set a new standard in men’s body wear for the 21st century. ”  I love that they have R&D for underwear!! Who tests this stuff?

Here’s the 411 on this collection. There will be no less than nine underwear styles for men. Designed by David and his in-house creative team (it takes a village) the collection will be sold exclusively at H&M.  The focus is on fit, function, comfort and design, while avoiding overt branding to present a range of new classics, comprised of briefs, boxers, vests, T-shirts, pajamas and long johns.  I can’t wait to see Beckham long johns-how crazy is that?

I don’t know a thing about the quality of the body wear, but I sure do like those H&M ads.  Becks is looking mighty fine in those budget briefs!
