David Beckham: Smile, Remember Your Best Fashion Accessory is Free

By  |

As the England vs US game kicked off yesterday, former England Captain and sometime Armani underwear “model” David Beckham was in good form.  Check him out above smiling and looking daper in his smashing World Cup suit with the Lions ensignia above the breast pocket.  But all that changed when Becks lost his greatest fashion accessory, and one that is absolutely free: his smile.  To quote the Brits, Becks looked “gutted” when the tie occurred, and the US scored.  His handsome brow furrowed, and as Jean Paul Sarte might have said, “Hell is a room filled with the US soccer team.”   I felt bad to see Becks laid so low.  After all, he didn’t look this disturbed when he warmed the bench for the LA Galaxy team.

Pictured: If every picture tells a story, then David Beckham’s wordless gaze spoke eloquently about his team.

David, life will go on, remember it is only a game.  Looking at this picture, you would think Beckham’s heart was broken. Remember what Chaplin said, “Smile though your heart is breaking.”   David, it seems hard now, but I KNOW you will model Armani again. I KNOW that Posh will be given another Birkin to carry. Life will go on.  Adidas will give you more gear.

Check this excellent post from Yahoo sports to see more of the changing faces of David Beckham from euphoric to existential despair. Remember, a smile is the best fashion accessory and it’s free! 🙂
