Holiday Decor and Fashion Trend: Tartan

By  |

This holiday season Tartan maybe the new black.  What is Tartan? It’s a distinctive plaid print with interlocking stripes or patterns based on Scottish or Celtic clans.  Tartan clothing is traditionally wooden or heavy cotton, in everything from blouses, dresses,  bows or kilts.  Striking tartan prints are always a great compliment to black, red, blue or green velvet solids.  The late Princess Diana was known to wear distinctive Tartan plaid dresses.

Tartan plaid fashion and home trends seem to be everywhere this holidays season, and it’s one of my favourite holiday shopping splurges.  This season, I’ve seen of range of Tartan and home fashion from the very affordable to  apparel at pricey luxury designers (think Alexander McQueen.)
