Looking for Valentine’s Day quotes, sayings, love letters and free cards? Check out The History Channel’s website. This website has some great quotes and letters that may inspire you to write your own love letter. Romantic lover of English literature that I am, I especially love the story of the Brownings, Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Robert Browning.

Pictured above is the actual letter poet Robert Browning wrote to Elizabeth Barrett. He wrote, ” I love your verses with all my heart, dear Miss Barrett, — and this is no off-hand complimentary letter.” He touched her heart and won her love with nothing more than his words, some paper, ink and a nominally priced postage stamp.  He sent no chocolates, flowers or expensive gifts, just his words. Now that’s priceless.
