Target has launched  three new, made in USA,  beauty brands.

Target is trying to dive into the money-making skincare beauty industry with three new offerings.  Marlow skincare, Mayfair soaps and You’re Amazing Bath and Beauty products.   I’m not quite sure why Target thinks they can get into this niche and compete with the more established beauty, skincare brands and products already sold at Target like Pixi Beauty,  La-Rouche Posay, Web MD and MeBath! It will  be interesting to see if consumers want to try these out.  Here’s a bit of information on each brand.  I haven’t tried any of these brands and I stopped by my local Target but didn’t see them on the shelves.

  • Marlowe: Modern, sophisticated essentials for men and women seeking to nourish their skin. Contains antioxidants and extracts to nourish, smooth and revitalize skin. Made in USA and the products are marketing as  paraben and phalate=free.  Target claims this brand will be comparable to Kiehl’s, Aveda or Philosophy.  That’s a bit of a leap Target to try to go after Kiehl’s in the skincare business. Marlowe is interesting as it features many products designed for men like body wash and scrubs.
  • Mayfair: Mayfair Soap Foundry is a socially-conscious, luxury bath line. The assortment includes modern, high-end bath and body products for women looking for a moment of indulgence, refinement, and serenity in their lives. With sophisticated spa scents, the marketing for this product compares it to L’Occitane, Penhaligon’s, and Laura Mercier. The products are made in the USA and are paraben and phthalate-free.  Competing with luxury brand Penhaligon’s–this I have to see and smell.  I have to admit Grapefruit Bergamot bath salts do sound appealing.
  • You are Amazing: YOU ARE AMAZING is a purpose-led brand with a social mission to empower young women to be confident. The line includes basic bath and body products to teens/young women. The scents are  described as fragrant, the packaging colors are bold and clean, and the items offer an irresistible value to the Guest. The marketing materials for the brand compares  it most closely to Soap & Glory, Bliss, Victoria’s Secret, & Formula 10.0.6. The products are made in the USA and are paraben and phthalate-free.
