Target’s Phillip Lim 3.1 Preview Shopping Party was a Crazy, Grab Fest

Celebrities like Jessica Alba , Alyssa Miller & more turned up during New York Fashion Week for a Target/Phillip Lim Shopping Party.

A line around the block, pushing and shoving inside and shelves laid waste to.  That was the scene at Target’s Shopping Party for their upcoming Phillip Lim 3.1 collection Thursday night during New York Fashion Week.  The Wall Street Journal’s reporter Eleanor Holmes describe the party as “competitive shopping” on her Twitter feed.   That’s putting it kindly.

According to Lucky Magazine, via their Twitter feed, ” The #philliplimfortarget party was great for people who like awesome clothes, but bad for claustrophobics.” “Team Recessionista waited in line for admittance, and then gave up when we heard all the goods were gone and the lines to try to buy were ginormous.  Apparently the first to arrive and the VIP guests (who were admitted 1 hour before everyone else) bought most of the Lim for Target items.   So dear readers, I really can’t tell you much more than the stuff looked good from afar.   I’ll be in line like the rest of your on Sept. 15th.  I really hope we’re not heading for another Target Missioni buying debacle.  My advice is if you are dying for good-looking Pleather Phillip Lim bags and clothes, get to your look store early and get in line. There are already 22 Phillip Lim for Target items for sale on eBay, and I can only assume they were purchased at the preview party. The most outrageous listing is a small Lim for Target satchel bag, that will retail for $35.00, listed starting at $70.00 with a buy it now price of $279.00.   Seriously, you can buy a real ,not Target ,Phillip Lim bag at a consignment store for that amount of money!

Phillip Lim for Target Bag already on sale on eBay. Buy it now for a mere $279.00 US!

Target does a great job marketing these collections and stirring up demand, but I hope none of you bid on the outrageously inflated items.   We’ll see how it goes on Sept. 15 at Target, meanwhile, read my earlier review of the collection based on the press preview.
